We’ve been talking about this for years. The frequency of the conversation has increased over the past 12 months. I am quite specific with my choice….a small, brown or black male Yorkie. I want something that can fit in my purse…small enough to not tear my house to pieces, and cute enough to make me fall in love at first glance.
I never considered myself a dog owner. I loved the idea of having a pet, but not the responsibility of it all. There’s a nervous feeling that stays with me when I think about being a dog mom. I’m afraid I’ll get my dream puppy, then after a month or so I’ll tire of it.
My family has curated a list of potential names for our pet. The list is growing exponentially. We can’t agree. But it’s fun thinking of outlandish names for our little friend. I’m settled on Booker T. Being the history buff that I am, Booker T. (Booker T. Washington) would be the perfect name. I’ve also considered Malik Shabazz (Malcolm X) or even “Melvin Peterson”- That’s Denzel Washington’s character’s name in my favorite movie. Regardless of its name, I know I’m gonna love the little pup.
