My doctor delivered some not so great news last week. My A1C has skyrocketed and I need to switch my medication to get this diabetes under control. Admittedly, I’m not surprised at the test results. Over the last six months I haven’t done a good job of focusing on my diet. And my exercise routine has become haphazard and sporadic. I’ve also been picking and choosing what days I take my medicine- which is a horrible practice.
Now, it’s time to refocus and get back on track. I must be more mindful of what and how much I eat. Also, I want to find more creative ways of being active. While I enjoy going to the gym, it can get monotonous and mundane.
I’ve lived in Atlanta for over 20 years but haven’t spent much time exploring the city. Yesterday, I walked around Stone Mountain for the first time ever! The weather was beautiful and it was nice to be outside with spring-like temperatures. I will have to do more of that if I want to get my A1C levels down.
My next doctor’s appointment is in 2 months. She will then check my bloodwork. Hopefully, my results will be better. Wish me luck!
